Foundation Degree Arts  (FdA)

Christian Theology and Ministry

In the FdA you will take taught modules on a Wednesday or Thursday evening while also following a programme of ministerial competency and formation. Modules are taken at two levels, 1 and 2 and are all worth 15 credits each. Each level has a total of 120 credits that must be taken (240 in total) before the Foundation Degree can be awarded.  This will take most ordination students three years; those studying for reader ministry will generally take about a year longer.  

 

It is possible to exit after obtaining 120 credits with a Certificate in Higher Education (CertHE).  Some Reader students will take this route.

Church Validation Requirements

 

Ordination students(on a 3 year course)  are required to complete all three Long Residentials and also CTM280 as a condition of licensing or ordination. All modules are compulsory.

 

Reader students have much more flexibility.  In general Level 1 modules are compulsory (although with some choice over independent study).  Those wishing to leave the option open of receiving a Foundation Degree will take the modules as above, others can take some level 1 versions of the above.
